"Gone Girl" movie quotes bring the best selling novel of the same name by Gillian Flynn to the big screen as the story about a wife who goes missing and the husband left to receive the blame is told. David Fincher directed the thriller using a screenplay written by Flynn. "Gone Girl" opened in theaters on October 3, 2014.
In "Gone Girl," Nick (Ben Affleck) and Amy Dunne (Rosamund Pike) are set to celebrate their fifth wedding anniversary when Amy suddenly disappears. Many gather to search for Amy including family members (Lisa Banes, David Clennon and Carrie Coon) and old friends (including Neil Patrick Harris and Casey Wilson) while Nick, who seemingly isn't too shaken by this event, faces the press with smiles and few other emotions.
So while Nick pledges his innocence and hires a top attorney (Tyler Perry), detectives (Kim Dickens and Patrick Fugit) and the media (Sela Ward and Missi Pyle) dig up things that surely make Nick look very guilty. But without much solid evidence like a body or murder weapon, the jury on who really is responsible for Amy's disappearance and if Nick was involved at all, is still very much out.
"Gone Girl" is just one of several highly anticipated films opening in September 2014 along with "The Equalizer," "Pride," "Good People," "The Boxtrolls," "This is Where I Leave You," "The Maze Runner," "A Walk Among the Tombstones," "Dolphin Tale 2," "No Good Deed," "The Skeleton Twins," "The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby," "The Drop," "The Identical," "Frontera," "The Longest Week," "The November Man," "The Congress," "Life of Crime," "Starred Up," "Sin City: A Dame to Kill For," "If I Stay."

I Saw You at the Volunteer Center
Nick Dunne: "I know you. I saw you at the volunteer center."
Desi Collings: "I wanted to help."
Nick confronts a man he does not know who he keeps seeing as the search for Amy continues. While the man, Desi, claims he just wants to help, actually, he and Amy formerly had a relationship.
The Hallmark of a Sociopath
Ellen Abbott: "The hallmark of a sociopath is a lack of empathy."
Television blowhard Ellen Abbott paints Nick as some kind of monster during a segment. If this type of behavior reminds you of Nancy Grace, that is no coincidence.
You Assaulted Her?
Detective Rhonda Boney: "You assaulted her?"
Nick Dunne: "I hit her? Absolutely not! I never touched her!"
When Detective Boney learns that once upon a time Nick and Amy had a physical altercation, she confronts Nick about the incident. He denies any wrongdoing completely.
Did You Kill Your Wife, Nick?
Sharon Schieber: "Nick Dunne, you're probably the most-hated man in America right now. Did you kill your wife, Nick?"
Nick sits down with television reporter Sharon Schieber for an interview. This is an important time for Nick with what he says treading a fine line between helping his case and proving his guilt.
You Don't Know If She Has Friends
Detective Rhonda Boney: "Does Amy got friends we can talk to?"
Nick Dunne: "No, not really"
Detective Rhonda Boney: "You don't know if she has friends, you don't know what she does all day and you don't know your wife's blood type."
Nick is questioned by Detective Rhonda Boney as the investigation into his missing wife, Amy, continues. Rhonda is a bit alarmed at the things Nick does not know about his wife.
Why'd They Mop Up the Blood
Detective Rhonda Boney: "Amy lost a lot of blood in there then somebody mopped it up."
Nick Dunne: "Why'd they mop up the blood if they're trying to stage a crime scene?"
Detective Boney questions Nick after a large amount of Amy's blood is discovered. Nick doesn't understand why the killer would clean the blood if the intent was to frame him for the crime. He does have a point.
I Feel Like I Could Disappear
Amy Elliott-Dunne: "Everyone told us and told us, marriage is hard work. Not for me and Nick. I will practice believing my husband loves me but I could be wrong. I feel like something to be jettisoned if necessary. I feel like I could disappear. I've finally realized that I am frightened of my own husband. The man of my dreams, this man of mine might kill me. This man may truly kill me."
In excerpts from Amy's diary, a picture of her marriage is painted. She goes from being completely in love and happy with her husband, Nick, to being gravely afraid that he might kill her. These notes she left, as found by detectives, sure do not help Nick's case that he did not kill her.
I Have Nothing to Hide
Nick Dunne: "As you all know, my wife, Amy Elliott-Dunne, disappeared three days ago. I had nothing to do with the disappearance of my wife. I have nothing to hide."
Nick speaks to those who have gathered to help look for his missing wife, Amy. His approach, which is part smiling at the crowd like nothing is wrong and part super defensive, is questioned by many as highly suspicious.
We Now Believe Nick Is Involved
Marybeth Elliott: "We now believe Nick is involved in the disappearance of our daughter."
Amy's mother, Marybeth, speaks on television to provide an update to her daughter's case, including naming Nick as the person she believes is responsible. Whether he did it or not, he has already been deemed guilty by the people.
Their Only Hope Is a Confession
Tanner Bolt: "Without a body, without a murder weapon, their only hope is a confession."
Nick's attorney Tanner Bolt tells him how cases like this work. He explains that the cops want him to confess as without a confession, they don't have much else against him.
