"American Hustle" movie quotes tell the tale, inspired by true events, of corruption, power an investigation and one woman who can bring it all down. The highly anticipated crime comedy-drama was directed by David O. Russell who co-wrote the screenplay with Eric Warren Singer. Just in time for Oscar consideration, "American Hustle" was released on December 20, 2013.
In "American Hustle," Christian Bale portrays 1970s con man Irving Rosenfeld, who, along with lover Sydney Prosser (Amy Adams) is quite successful at his trade. He is not careful enough however as ambitious FBI Agent Richie DiMaso catches the pair and forces them to work undercover for him in an effort to catch corruption at the highest levels of government as part of the AMSCAM operation, specifically Camden, New Jersey, Mayor Carmine Polito (Jeremy Renner).
As Irving and Sydney get closer to Carmine, Irving's wife, Rosalyn (Jennifer Lawrence), threatens to blow up the entire operation with her headstrong ways. This puts Irving and Sydney in a tough spot where they are forced to decide which side they are on, Richie's, Carmine's or their own.
"American Hustle" is sure to get some awards show love come 2014 but will have to compete with others in theaters at the same time such as "Saving Mr. Banks," "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug," "Dallas Buyers Club," "Inside Llewyn Davis," "Out of the Furnace," "The Last Days on Mars," "12 Years a Slave," "Frozen," "Oldboy," "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire," "Delivery Man," "Tyler Perry's A Madea Christmas," "Ender's Game, "The Counselor," "Captain Phillips," "Gravity," "Don Jon," "Rush, and "Prisoners".

Treat People the Way You Want to Be Treated
Irving Rosenfeld: "I believe that you should treat people the way that you want to be treated. Didn't Jesus say that?"
Carmine Polito: "Yeah, right"
Irving Rosenfeld: "Also, always take a favor over money. I think Jesus said that as well."
Carmine Polito: "I don't know if he said the second one. He might have said the first one."
As Irving cozies up with Mayor Carmine Polito, he pulls out the charm, which is part of his con. He connects with Carmine's moral compass in an effort to get the politician to trust him.
I'm Running the Show
Richie DiMaso: "Everybody thought 'aww, Richie DiMaso's gonna stay in the office.' I'm outside on the field. I got people working for me, my ideas. I'm running the show. I'm the quarterback and I'm not going to settle. Those people, those corrupt people, I'm going after them."
Richie complains about how so many didn't expect him to do anything important at the FBI but he's showing them all wrong. He's doing big things and going to take down the biggest crooks in the business, corrupt politicians.
Teach Me Everything You Know
Richie DiMaso: "I want you to teach me everything you know. I want to go after corruption at the highest levels of government."
Richie offers Irving and Sydney a deal. Instead of prosecuting them for their crimes, Richie wants them to teach him their trade so he can use it to take down others.
Now Who's the Master
Irving Rosenfeld: "I want to show you something. This Rembrandt here, people come from all over the world to see this."
Richie DiMaso: "He's good, yeah."
Irving Rosenfeld: "It's a fake."
Richie DiMaso: "What are you talking about? That's impossible."
Irving Rosenfeld: "People believe what they want to believe because the guy who made this was so good that it's real to everybody. Now who's the master, the painter or the forger?"
Irving uses a painting to teach Richie a powerful lesson. The fact that the forger of this masterpiece is the one commanding the attention makes him in fact the master.
Find a Way to Survive
Irving Rosenfeld: "Did you ever have to find a way to survive and you knew your choices were bad but you had to survive?"
Irving describes the tough situation he's found himself in. He knows all of his options pretty much suck but he's going to have to choose one if he wants to survive.
Science Oven
Rosalyn Rosenfeld: "… He always treats me like a f***ing child…. Whoa!"
Danny Rosenfeld: "Another fire?"
Rosalyn Rosenfeld: "No, Danny, not that one. It's empty. We gotta use the big one."
…
Irving Rosenfeld: "I told you not to put metal in the science oven. What'd you do that for?"
Rosalyn Rosenfeld: "Don't make such a big deal. Just get another one."
Irving Rosenfeld: "I don't want another one. I want the one that Carmine gave me."
Rosalyn Rosenfeld: "Oh, Carmine, I want the one that Carmine gave me. Carmine, Carmine, why don't you just marry Carmine? Get a little gold microwave and put it on a chain around your neck. You want to be more like Carmine? Why don't you build something like he does, instead of all of your empty deals? They are just like your f***ing science oven. You know I read that it takes all of the nutrition out of our food! It's empty, just like your deals! Empty! Empty!"
Irving Rosenfeld: "This is bulls***."
Rosalyn Rosenfeld: "It's not bulls***. I read it in an article. Look, by Paul Bredeur. Bring something into this house that's going to take all of the nutrition out of our food and light our house on fire. Thank god for me."
Totally oblivious to the fact that she could have prevented her kitchen fire, Rosalyn goes on a rant about how Irving so adores his friend Carmine but never seems to be as successful as him. She praises herself for saving them from the vicious science oven when in reality, she might be the one who is causing them all danger.
We Were So Successful
Irving Rosenfeld: "We were so successful for so long because we kept it just small enough."
Richie DiMaso: "If you're that successful how come you wound up in this room with me right now, taking orders from me?"
Irving tries to explain just how good of a con man he is to FBI agent Richie DiMaso but Richie reminds him that he was not so good that he didn't not get caught.
The Best We've Ever Done
Sydney Prosser: "We gotta get over on all these guys. That's what we need to be thinking about right now. We gotta get over on all these guys."
Irving Rosenfeld: "It's gotta be the best we've ever done."
Sydney pushes Irving to make a move to throw everyone off. They can't work for someone else, they have to do things for themselves and they have to do it well.
This Confidence That Drew Me to Him
Sydney Prosser: "He wasn't necessarily in good shape and he had this combover that was rather elaborate but he has this confidence that drew me to him."
Sydney explains her attraction to Irving. While he's not much to look at, there is something about his charm that makes him wildly attractive.
Daddy's a Sick Son of a Bitch
Rosalyn Rosenfeld: "Life is ridiculous and you know that I would never say anything bad about your father in front of you but your father is a sick son of a bitch."
Danny Rosenfeld: "Daddy's a sick son of a bitch?"
Rosalyn Rosenfeld: "Don't repeat that, but yes."
Rosalyn is fed up with husband Irving's scams and complains about him to their son, Danny. Though she swears she'd never badmouth Irving, the next sentence out of her mouth proves otherwise.
