The Best Cop Movies of the 1990s
What comes to mind when you think about the best cop movies from the 1990s? Many '90s cop films were dark, gritty, and totally action-packed. Some of the best police flicks from the '90s were also pretty funny, while others came across as totally realistic.

What's the best '90s cop film? Bruce Willis starring as John McLean in Die Hard 2 and Die Hard With a Vengeance set the stage for many future action movies. Any action movie featuring a lone hero battling a myriad of various opponents in an unusual setting takes their cues from the Die Hard Franchise. Another '90s cop film, Speed, is often referred to as, "Die Hard on a bus." Die Hard and all of its sequels are some of the most iconic and influential cop movies ever.

Other police films from the 1990s are hilarious, such as Kindergarten Cop and The Naked Gun 33 1/2.  These movies set out to prove that just because you're hunting down bad guys doesn't mean that you can't have a little bit of fun doing it. In Kindergarten Cop, Arnold Schwarzenegger is perfectly cast as John Kimble, a police officer that must go under cover as a Kindergarten teacher in order to catch a drug dealer. Hilarity ensues when Kimble discovers that looking after a bunch of 5-year-olds is harder than collaring a perp.
